Global Warming: and the Creator’s Plan

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.   So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.   And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

(Genesis 1:26-28)

“Positive Mutations” – A Creationist’s Perspective

Part 1: Viruses

From the feedback I have heard, the creation seminar was a blessing to many people. PTL! I have also heard one great question (several times) that may be worth discussing. The question pertains to the comment that no “positive mutations” exist. Perhaps the qualifier “…of living organisms” should be added. It could be argued that positive mutations do exist in viruses. However, viruses are not considered living organisms. Continue reading “Positive Mutations” – A Creationist’s Perspective

I have been eager to write an article on mutations for several months! According to the theory of evolution, supposedly creatures “evolve” by a process called “natural selection.” But what is being selected? According to the theory, creatures that undergo healthy mutations survive and creatures that experience unhealthy mutations may die. So far so good. But let’s examine this process a little closer to see if creatures can actually “evolve” via this process. Let’s have a little fun at it. Get out a deck of cards and we can see how this process works. Continue reading Mutations

HoneybeeGod’s design of the honeybee is a spectacular example of creation!  The honeybee is an unlikely candidate for evolution.

  • Its defense – the stinger.  Yet the bee dies soon after using it.
  • Reproduction – typical bisexual mating.  Yet the drone (the male bee) dies seconds after mating and the worker (the female bee) is sterile.
  • Flight – fairly typical insect wings.  Yet the honeybee, unlike birds and bats, has two pairs of wings.  Both are required for the bees’ successful flight.

The Pepper Moth

Did you know…

…the classic “pepper moth” story (prominently displayed at the Baltimore Aquarium) has nothing to do with evolution? A pepper moth is a pepper moth; regardless of whether it is predominately black or predominately white. (And people are people – made in His image – regardless of whether they are predominately black or predominately white as well!) These are merely examples of “genetic diversity.” Continue reading The Pepper Moth

DNA in the News!

Have you ever seen the orange and yellow contraptions that lift workers up into the air? You will see them on construction sites, shopping malls, airports, etc. As an engineer, my job is to assist in the design of the hydraulic systems that make these machines work. The hydraulic systems include the pumps and motors that make the machine self propel, the valves to give the wheels a “limited slip” action for better traction, the valves to lift the people up into the air and position them in the right location to do their intended work, and, perhaps most importantly, the valves that make sure they stay in that position and don’t drop someone 150′ to the ground! The designs are extremely detailed, as you can imagine, and include the many other parts like hoses, fitting sizes, electrical wiring, etc. By any definition of the process, the design is “complete.” Or is it???
