Which of the following two scenarios do you feel fits your daily routine?
|
6:00 Wake up, Pray with wife. Read God’s word. 6:30 Record the rainfall and high and low temperatures for the past 24 hours. Listen to the latest weather report. 6:45 Eat your hearty bacon and egg breakfast. Get ready for work. 7:15 Step outside. Notice the bright blue sky, the white puffy clouds, and the crops across the rolling hills for as far as you can. Walk (or ride) across the fields to the day’s work activity of plowing, seeding, pruning, or harvesting. 12:00 Go home for dinner of fresh grown vegetables. Check on the progress of the children’s chores for the day. 1:00 Go back to the fields. Carry extra water since the afternoon will be quite warm. 6:00 Go home for supper; a lighter meal than lunch, but still predominantly fresh garden vegetables. 7:00 Check on the household chores and plan the following day’s activities for the family. 8:00 Sing and study God’s word with the family. 9:00 Check the local paper for local crop conditions and for the long term weather forecast. 10:00 Go to bed meditating on His word. |
6:00 Wake up. Get ready for work. 6:30 Jump in the car to drive to work. Race out the driveway to beat the rush hour traffic. Shave and choke down your PopTart along the way. 7:00 Slam on the brakes as the traffic on the freeway comes to a grinding halt. Sit in bumper to bumper traffic. Yell at the jerk that just cut you off as you headed for the exit ramp. 8:15 Arrive at the air conditioned office (with no windows) to sit at your 6' by 6' cubicle and stare at your computer monitor for the next 8 hours. 12:00 Choke down a cheeseburger and fries from the local fast food restaurant. 1:10 Arrive back at the office to continue to stare at the computer again. 2:37 Explain to the boss how you would have been back to work on time except for the rude man that chiseled into line about 7 people ahead of you. 4:59 Jump back in the car. Fight the traffic again. Yell at the air conditioner that is failing. 6:45 Arrive home. Have a TV dinner in front of the TV to enjoy quality time with the kids. 10:30 Go to bed wondering why “Dirty Harry” didn’t just do away with the creep. |
A few years ago, USA Today interviewed “17 interesting smart, successful and hopefully quite different people” to comment on the greatest inventions of the last 100 years. 13 of these smart, successful individuals talked about how computer technology has improved our lifestyle. I guess I have to ask for their definition of “improved”.
The description above on the left describes my grandfather who’s lifestyle depended on his Creator. He knew little about the science of evolution or creation, and quite frankly didn’t care. He lived in God’s creation. There was no debate to discuss.
I lived in the right column for all too many years. And I’m still not in the left column. Most of you aren’t either. The science of creation and evolution does matter to you. You are constantly bombarded by evolutionary dogma and your concrete surroundings contribute little to your daily communion with our Creator.
So, I urge you to study the science of creation. It will provide such a tremendous appreciation for the Creator. Oh, and when you’re sitting in the traffic, take a moment to notice His creation. (You may have to imagine what it would look like without the concrete and haze.) And meditate on His word!
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. Rom 1:20

I have one final thought. Over the years, we have discussed various creation related subjects. As I have talked to numerous people who have swallowed the lie of evolution, I would categorize them into four groups and estimate:
1) About 45% of these people have no clear understanding of why they have swallowed the lie. It’s all they’ve heard, and since it’s all that is taught, “it must be true.”
2) About 45% have only two or three technical reasons why they hang on to evolution.
3) Only about 5% have a clear understanding of why they believe evolution and can speak fluently in numerous areas of science.
4) Interestingly enough, the remaining 5% have a reasonably well established understanding of evolution, but feel the strength of evolutionary evidence must be outside their own area of expertise!
If we take the sum of all of these “two or three” reasons from group 2) above, we only have about fifteen total! Imagine that. Millions, if not billions of people, have swallowed the lie based on only about 15 misconceptions! My intent, over the years, was to address these few misconceptions. My point is this; you don’t have to be an expert to be conversant in creation science. If you have a reasonable understanding of four or five areas, you have a better foundation than most people who have fallen for the lie of evolutionism!
