Articles

For nearly twenty years Jay Auxt has been writing short articles or periodicals for anyone who wants them. Usually he tries to keep them on a reading level that makes them easily understandable for Jr. High through High school aged students. However, many adults have enjoyed them as well. Some have been rewritten for radio presentations; while the Mr. Stumps were written for a group of kids to perform for a local radio station.

U.S. Interstate Route 68 cuts through a mountain in Western Maryland that is known as “Sidling Hill.” The interesting thing about this cut, is that it reveals a “syncline” rock strata. A “syncline” is where the rock strata lies in a “mirror image” to the mountain. The Mountain is an upside down u with the strata forming a proper u, with the lowest point in each strata layer being directly under the top of the mountain. Mr. Stump was a radio program that aired once a month for almost two years. The setting was generally a public school class room with a very firm evolutionist for the teacher. The shows generally had Mr. Stump trying to brainwash the students with evolution, but the students normally were able to bring up the creation counter arguments. Sometimes, however, Mr. Stump gets the upper hand for a little while, in such a scenario someone would always come along and help the students understand things a little better.
